Grad wins Emmy for getting into people's hair at SNL

Cara Hannah Sullivan, Cler '97, M (CCM) '02, hairstylist and wigmaker on “Saturday Night Live,” took home a primetime Emmy this fall. She and the rest of her SNL hairstyling team won the award for “Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special.” The statue honored their work on two episodes — one featuring Zooey Deschanel in February 2012 and the other one featuring Jennifer Lawrence in January 2013.

Sullivan had also been nominated for her SNL work in 2011, but did not win. The SNL hairstyling team, however, had received an Emmy win at another time, making this win its second. Besides Sullivan, on this year’s winning team were Bettie Rogers, Jodi Mancuso, Inga Thrasher, Jennifer Serio Stauffer and Christal Schanes.

In a previous UC Magazine story, Sullivan said that when she enrolled at Clermont College, she initially wanted to study business. When she casually signed up for a theater class as an elective, however,  "I knew this was the world I wanted to live in," she said.

She later obtained a master's degree in hair and makeup from UC’s College-Conservatory of Music.
