Ghostly images, costumes on UC's campus through the ages

In honor of Halloween, here are a few photos of costumes on campus. These weren't necessarily connected to Halloween at the time, but Trick-or-Treat day in 2012 is a fun occasion to group them together.

Ghosts on campus? The News Record ran this funny photo in 1939 of "ghostly" figures in the University YMCA.
Three female students dressed up like sexy witches.

Witches so scantily clad are rare on campus, except during the Varsity Vanities. This one took place in 1940.
A female student dances with a dummy that looks like a sailor.

The dance act also came from the 1940 Varsity Vanities.
Scarecrow costume.

UC Magazine editor Deb Rieselman took it seriously when President Santa Ono urged everyone to dress up for Halloween 2012. And she won third place in the Bookstore costume contest.

The same 1940 Varsity Vanities brought campus this line of dancing witches.
Engineering students form a clown band.

This clown band is made up of students in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, who posed for a UC Co-op Day photo in 1943.
