For the love of dance, c. 1967

Pre-ballet classes for children are a long tradition with the Preparatory Department of UC's College-Conservatory of Music. Claudia Rudolf, a student instructor, is pictured in 1967 correcting a pupil's demi-plié posture.

Now Claudia Rudolf Barrett, CCM '71, MFA (CCM) '73, this University of Cincinnati alumna learned her art well. Not only was she a soloist (12 years) and ballet mistress (14 years) with the Cincinnati Ballet, she created her own school of dance in 1993 and a non-profit performing arts association four years later, both under the Ballet Tech Ohio name. Claudia is the artistic director, a choreographer, a champion of diversity and always a teacher.

We don't know whether the students in this photo achieved their dancing dreams. If you recognize any of them, tell us if they still love ballet.
