Bearcats advance to third round of NCAA, but beaten by UK

Facing the top-ranked team in the nation, the Bearcats gave up a hard-fought battle against undefeated Kentucky in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in Louisville Saturday, March 21, 2015.

Final score: 64 to 51

UC never backed down, particularly in the first half when they led or tied UK all but six minutes. Though outsized, the Bearcats outrebounded UK 45 to 38 on the game and held them to 37-percent shooting.

"I’m so proud of these guys for what they have done this entire year  in a very difficult season when we lost our leader," said associate head coach Larry Davis. "For them to accomplish what they have accomplished this year has been no short feat." 

Davis said the Bearcats are looking forward to a deeper run in the tournament next year when all but senior Jermaine Sanders returns.
