Cincinnati native and UC grad Asha Daniels is again competing on a fashion reality show.
Daniels, DAAP ’13, is one of the designers on the fifth season of “Project Runway All Stars,” a popular program on the Lifetime channel. She had previously participated in “Project Runway: Under the Gunn” in 2014, placing third in that design competition.
She is one of 13 fashion designers vying for a large prize package, including $100,000. On an episode that aired Feb. 25, Daniels won a “celebrity challenge,” creating a winning look for one member of the country music group Little Big Town.
A graduate of St. Ursula Academy in Walnut Hills, Daniels as a UC freshman joined Honors Scholars program for academically talented students. As a child, she attended UC’s award-winning preschool, the Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education Center.
In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the St. Ursula Ensemble Theater and Sisters in Cultural Unity, a school organization she led as president her senior year. Daniels served as a student mentor at her high school and at Beech Acres, a children and family services agency. Daniels was also co-founder of a youth dance and drama after-school program.
When Daniels came to UC, she was a recipient of a Cincinnatus Scholarship and one of four Presidential Scholars. Daniels interned at fashion-giant Marchesa after graduation. The co-founder of Marchesa, Georgina Chapman, is one of the judges on “All Stars,” along with Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi and many celebrity judges including Debra Messing, Boy George and Ke$ha.
