Composer Henry Fillmore was nationally known as one of the most creative and influential figures in band music before his retirement in 1939. This piece is one of his most popular compositions. In the circus marching tradition, it was written in 1933 and dedicated to the Honorable Russell Wilson, mayor of Cincinnati from 1930 to 1937.
