Playdate with the Bearcats set for Feb. 12

Join cancer survivor Mitch Stone for UC event at the Campus Recreation Center

The Second Annual Playdate With The Bearcats will take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. at UC's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. The event is co-hosted by Mitch's Mission and the UC football team.

The fundraiser will benefit pediatric cancer and blood disease patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The event is designed as a carnival-like, family-fun event, featuring UC student-athletes from the football team and other varsity sports along with the Bearcat mascot.

Playdate With The Bearcats offers games such as cornhole, kid-friendly drills put together by UC coaches, swimming, rock-climbing, face painting, food and music. There will also be a raffle of UC sports items and other gift baskets.

Playdate participants have access to amenities including swimming in the lazy river, rock-climbing and basketball.

Food and a raffle of UC sports items and other gift baskets are also included.

Cost for the event is $15 per person or $50 per family.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.mitchsmission.com or at the door.

All event proceeds will send children from the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital to summer camp at Camp Joy in Clarksville, Ohio for a week.

Mitch's Mission grew out of the relationship between the UC Bearcat football team and Mitch Stone, a young cancer patient who was adopted by the team during their 2009 record-breaking season. Today, Mitch is healthy and cancer-free. With help from the team, Mitch's family started Mitch's Mission so that they could continue helping kids facing similar health challenges.
